Criminal Record Checks

Every rostered Team Official (Coaches, Managers, HCSP, On-ice Helpers) Board Members, Appointed Positions and Staff of the AMHA over the age of majority eighteen (18) must have a current Criminal Record Check on file with the AMHA. Criminal Record Checks are valid for three (3) years.

A vulnerable sector search is an additional, secondary search of the criminal record databases that encompasses convictions for pardoned sex offences that have subsequently been pardoned. Pardoned offences are not typically included in a criminal record check. Vulnerable sector searches are only available to individuals who are identified as working with an organization responsible for the well-being of children under the age of eighteen (18) and the AMHA is such a organization.

Criminal Record Check Process:

The criminal record check application can be completed online and takes approximately 5-10 minutes. Once complete you must forward the SERVICE ID number and receiopt to Rhonda Bencze our Registrar at amha@abbotsfordminorhockey.ca to advise that you have applied.
If you receive a letter from the ministry advising a further finger printing is required you must let the association know by notifying our Registrar.  You have thirty (30) days from the date you receive the letter to have your fingerprints processed.  After 30 days your file will be closed and you will have to reapply. The AMHA removes all Team Officials from teams until the Criminal Record Check is complete. The results are sent directly to the association.

Fingerprint Process:

For those individuals who require fingerprinting there are two processes.

1) For those that reside within Abbotsford, go to the Abbotsford Policy Department. You will require a letter from our Registrar and the fee is $27. The fee is refundable by the AMHA. Please note the RCMP will not fingerprint residents of Abbotsford.

2) For those that reside in an area that is policed by the RCMP, go to your local RCMP detachment or local authority.

Criminal Record Checks Obtained for Other Organizations

The AMHA does accept Criminal Record Checks via the online system, however they must be current within one year. Please utilize the online system to share with the AMHA.
